Ian Light-Maka is a self taught artist from the USA. Working in oils and ink, his expressionistic figurative work is concerned with human relationships, especially how the viewer and artist are able to relate to the human and non-human subjects of a painting. Drawing on direct observation, art history, and his own research as a PhD candidate studying the history of disease, these themes are explored, serving as a means to understand the ethics and morality of human relationships.
